Villa 32
Adults-only hot spring retreat with Japanese-meets-European design. Hushed, deliberately paced, and very small. Think natural stone, tatami, outdoor onsen, and a wine cellar that genuinely surprises.
Book the restaurant well in advance — advance reservations are required for lunch and dinner, and walk-ins are not reliable
Why It Matters
First Relais & Châteaux member in Taiwan (since 2010). Only five suites, each with a private natural hot spring tub. Runs the largest outdoor hot spring area in northern Taiwan, open to day visitors. Recommended by Condé Nast Traveler, The Telegraph, and the Michelin Guide.
Five suites. Every one with its own private hot spring tub. Villa 32 sits in Beitou's geothermal valley in northern Taipei, surrounded by ancient trees and the sulfurous mist that drifts up from the nearby Thermal Valley. It was the first Relais & Châteaux member in Taiwan and operates what is claimed to be the largest outdoor hot spring complex in northern Taiwan — eight pools of white and green sulfur spring water, open to non-guests too. Designed by founder Ming-Hong Chiu around the elements of water, wood, trees, and stone, the architecture blends European simplicity with wabi-sabi sensibility. The result is one of the most private, minimal, and quietly serious luxury properties in all of Taiwan.
