Why It Matters
There is no other hotel in Germany inside a converted water tower of this scale or history. The circular architecture shapes everything — room layouts, the spa curving around the tower's belly, the spiral staircases in duplex suites. The Rolling Stones famously slept here in 1999, back when it was still Hotel im Wasserturm. The former La Vision restaurant held two Michelin stars during that earlier era.
Once the tallest water tower in Europe, this 150-year-old circular brick building was inaugurated in 1872, bombed in WWII, left to ruin, then converted into a hotel in 1990. It joined the Curio Collection by Hilton in 2021. Interior design by the award-winning London studio Goddard Littlefair plays the industrial bones beautifully: exposed brickwork, an 11-meter-high lobby, steel-and-glass mezzanine walkways, and circular room layouts that constantly remind you this is not a standard hotel. Forbes has named it one of Europe's most beautiful hotel restorations. Bar Botanik crowns the 11th floor at 35 meters up, with a 360° rooftop terrace that delivers one of the best city views in Germany.
