Zander K Hotel
Minimalist urban Scandinavian. Industrial-chic lobby with a social, buzzy energy. More lifestyle hotel than boutique; feels current without being try-hard.
Complimentary coffee and tea are available to guests throughout the day in the lobby — no need to hunt for a café first thing
Why It Matters
Nominated by Wallpaper* magazine as one of the world's best urban hotels. Designed by acclaimed Swedish firm Claesson Koivisto Rune. Part of the De Bergenske family — Bergen's most prominent homegrown hotel group. Named after 18th-century Bergen philanthropist and merchant Alexander 'Zander' Kaae.
Zander K is a 249-room design hotel sitting directly next to Bergen's central train station — literally 50 metres from the platform. Designed by Swedish architectural firm Claesson Koivisto Rune and nominated by Wallpaper* magazine as one of the world's best urban hotels, it's the younger, more laid-back sibling of the stately Bergen Børs Hotel. Both are owned by De Bergenske, a family-run Bergen hotel group. The look is minimalist Scandinavian: clean lines, pale wood, raw concrete ceilings in the lobby, and a deep-blue glass facade. Breakfast is included, the in-house Matbaren restaurant sources locally and organically, and the gym is genuinely good. Standard rooms are compact, but the location is essentially unbeatable for transit-oriented travel.

On Property
How you'll actually spend your days.
City bikes can be borrowed from the street directly outside the hotel at no charge. Bergen's compact city centre and flat waterfront areas are very bikeable.
On-site gym open every day for guests. Notably well-reviewed for a European city hotel — at least one verified guest comment specifically praised a full weight rack and a Concept2 rowing ergometer. No additional charge.
Every Friday from 5:00 PM, a DJ plays in Matbaren. Food and drinks served. Open to hotel guests and the public. Popular with Bergen locals and a lively way to spend a Friday evening in the hotel.
Bergen Train Station is 50 metres from the front door — the most convenient hotel in Bergen for passengers joining or ending the famous Norway in a Nutshell scenic rail route (Bergen–Flåm–Myrdal–Oslo). The hotel does not organise this itself, but the location makes it uniquely practical.
