Stairs, Terrain, and Daily Planning
Positano is built vertically; expect lots of stairs and inclined lanes. Plan your days to naturally move downhill (Montepertuso to Centro to the beach) or uphill once, rather than bouncing up and down multiple times. Wear supportive shoes and take stair breaks—there’s no shame in stopping for a coffee.
Beach and Belongings Safety
Crime levels are low, but petty theft can happen, especially on busy beaches and transport. On Marina Grande or Fornillo, don’t leave phones, wallets, or cameras unattended while swimming; bring only what you need and use a small waterproof pouch or share turns in the water.
Local Food and Coffee Etiquette
Say “Buongiorno” when entering cafés and shops, order your espresso at the bar for the local price, and save cappuccino for the morning.
