The Rocks
Sydney's historic cobblestone heart by the harbor
The Rocks feels like stepping into Sydney's diary. Cobblestone streets wind between sandstone buildings that have watched ships sail in and out of Sydney Harbour for over two centuries. But this isn't some sterile heritage precinct - it's alive with weekend markets, rooftop bars, and restaurants tucked into converted warehouses. You'll find Aboriginal rock art alongside colonial architecture, craft beer flowing in historic pubs, and some of the best harbor views in the city. The tourist crowds thin out once you wander past the main strip into the quieter laneways where locals still grab their morning coffee.
