Get up at dawn and walk Oia before the cruise ship crowds arrive — the village is deserted and the light is extraordinary

Why It Matters

Listed in the Michelin Guide and featured on Tablet Hotels. One of Santorini's oldest restored houses, sitting literally steps from the iconic Oia blue dome photo spot. Just four suites, no front desk, and a host (Takis) who personally arranges everything from airport pickups to restaurant reservations.

A four-suite property occupying a restored 19th-century sea captain's mansion on the caldera edge in Oia. The two-storey structure is partly carved into the cliff — dark volcanic stone on the renaissance-inspired upper facade, whitewashed island style below. Inside: wide-plank floors (rare for Santorini, found only in the old captains' mansions), cross-vaulted ceilings among the highest in Oia, and antique canopy beds sharing space with marble bathrooms. No reception, no pool, no lobby — just four individually decorated suites and caldera views that hit you the moment you walk out the door.

Captain's Suite

Captain's Suite

The largest suite in the house by sleep capacity, sitting on the Courtyard level with a direct entrance facing the sea, caldera and volcano. Two sleeping areas make it work for small families or two couples — antique canopy king in the main room, queen bed in the upper loft. Private courtyard plus a terrace with caldera views. One white marble bathroom with shower and jetted bath. Breakfast served in the courtyard or inside the suite.

Cave Suite

One of the biggest cave houses in Oia, renovated in a minimal style with antique furnishings. Two full bedrooms, three bathrooms (including a marble cave deep soaking tub), two dressing rooms, and a private traditional courtyard with a raised terrace overlooking the sea, caldera and volcano. Cross-vaulted arc ceilings throughout. At 100 sq.m. it feels genuinely spacious — two couples can stay comfortably with separate bathrooms. The cave soaking tub is a highlight. Sits on the Courtyard level.

Sailing Suite
suite

Sailing Suite

The larger of the two Main Terrace suites and the one to book for a honeymoon. Two shuttered windows face the volcano and sea, and the suite claims the larger portion of the shared Main Terrace — more space for that morning breakfast ritual. Same antique canopy king bed and marble bathroom as the Venetian, but with a shower plus jetted bath rather than just a soaking tub. Guests consistently rave about waking up to the caldera view from this room.

Venetian Suite
suite

Venetian Suite

The smaller of the two Main Terrace suites, but arguably the most atmospheric. Sits on the upper level with one window looking directly out to sea, caldera and volcano. The antique canopy king bed, wide-plank floors and marble bathroom with bath tub lean more baroque than the usual stripped-down Santorini aesthetic. The Venetian and Sailing suites share the Main Terrace — each has its own seating area and breakfast table. Best for two guests or a solo traveler wanting that caldera view.
