Why It Matters

Ranked #7 of 153 hotels in Quito on TripAdvisor with 5/5 from 648 reviews. Listed on Tablet Hotels. The hosts Mario and Blanca are the genuine draw — Mario offers personalized running tours of the city at altitude (2,850m / 9,000 ft), and Blanca hand-selects all breakfast ingredients daily. It's the kind of place where the owners remember your name and get up before dawn to help with luggage.

Six-room boutique hotel inside a beautifully restored century-old colonial townhouse in Quito's UNESCO-listed Old Town. Owned and personally run by Mario (a psychologist and marathon runner) and Blanca, who spent 15 years hosting international students before opening Casa El Edén in 2014. The building wraps around a glass-cupola atrium, and every room is named after an Ecuadorian fruit.
