Casa Turquesa
Colour-coded colonial glamour with a warm, shoes-off-at-the-door personality. Public spaces lean rustic — rough stone walls, Brazilian hardwood, leather sofas in vivid blues and greens. Guest rooms flip to crisp whites and dark wood with one bold colour accent per suite. Think stylish friend's house, not stiff luxury hotel.
Ask for the Royal Suite if bay views matter most — it sits at the top of the house and overlooks the docks directly
Why It Matters
Consistently ranked #1 or #2 hotel in Paraty on major travel platforms. Listed in the Michelin Guide and Tablet Hotels. The most expensive property in town, and by most accounts the most polished. Each of the nine suites is themed around a different colour and furnished with original artworks commissioned specifically for the space.
Casa Turquesa is a nine-suite boutique guesthouse tucked into the quiet side of Paraty's UNESCO-listed historic center, right at the waterfront overlooking the docks. Opened in 2008 in a painstakingly restored 18th-century mansion — the original burned down decades ago — it was rebuilt by colonial architecture specialist Renato Tavolaro and finished by São Paulo-born owner Tetê Etrusco, who spent five years on the project. Nine is the whole point here: small enough that the staff know your name before you arrive, large enough to feel like a real hotel rather than a B&B.
