Downtown
Modern colonial minimalism. High ceilings, neutral tones, Venetian plaster walls, and chukum-finished bathrooms. Quiet and deliberately small — the 'Uncrowded Luxury' tagline is accurate. Staff actively share local knowledge and steer guests away from tourist traps.
Ask staff for their personal restaurant picks — they are specifically encouraged to share local, non-touristy recommendations
Why It Matters
Michelin Key recipient (2024–2025), SLH member, and one of the few true boutique luxury properties in Mérida's Centro. Solar-powered. Only 8 rooms across two floors. The tannkab (Mayan garden) is tended daily and doubles as the quietest spot in the city center.
Eight rooms. One 19th-century casona. That's the whole pitch — and it works. Decu Downtown Mid is a restored colonial mansion in Mérida's historic Centro, opened in 2021, where architect Fernando Abreu kept every mosaic tile and corniced ceiling intact while threading in clean-lined modern design. The result feels less like a hotel and more like staying in a beautifully maintained family home that happens to have an infinity pool and a spa.

On Property
How you'll actually spend your days.
Borrow a bike from the hotel to explore Mérida's Centro at your own pace. Convenient for reaching Paseo de Montejo or the main squares without the heat of walking.
The central courtyard infinity pool is the social hub of the property. Cocktails from the bar can be enjoyed poolside. Pool towels are provided. Eight rooms means you're rarely competing for a spot.
The rooftop lounge is set up for reading, board games, and general skyline-level downtime. Bring a book or pull a game from the collection. Not a bar — more of a private terrace for guests.
The tannkab — Mayan for 'garden' — is a solar-powered courtyard tended daily. Shaded trees, outdoor furniture, and a calm setting. Guests often use it to read, decompress, or enjoy cocktails from the bar.
The front desk can arrange city tours, cenote day trips, and excursions to Uxmal and Izamal. Staff are specifically encouraged to give honest, local recommendations rather than default tourist-trap suggestions.
