Elle Dimora di Sicilia
History-steeped romantic. Theatrical Sicilian interiors mixing neoclassical plaster sculptures, 18th-century hand-painted ceilings, artist Sergio Fiorentino's ultramarine blue works, and sharp contemporary design. Feels more like staying in a private Sicilian *pied-à-terre* than a hotel.

Why It Matters
One of the most design-forward micro-properties in Sicily — only three suites, all owner-designed with artisan-crafted furnishings and bespoke details, sitting directly above a 2nd-century Roman amphitheater. Featured in AD (Architectural Digest) Italy and part of both Tablet Hotels and Mr & Mrs Smith collections.
Three suites carved from a third-floor apartment on Piazza Stesicoro, directly above a 2nd-century Roman amphitheater that locals call the 'black Colosseum.' Owner Leandra Romeo designed every inch herself — charcoal walls, oversized Egyptian linen canopies, hand-painted Roman soldier silhouettes on wardrobe doors, Sicilian pietra pece vanities, and a freestanding center-stage shower that gets its own conversation. The building entrance is nondescript, the lobby a touch cramped. But none of that matters once you're in a suite or up on the rooftop: zinc canopy chairs, views of the amphitheater, Mount Etna, and the cathedral dome. No restaurant, no spa, no pool. Just three knockout suites and a Sicilian breakfast that guests consistently rave about.
