Hotel Bergs Suites
Understated Art Nouveau boutique. Quiet courtyards, serious art, linens and leather. More like a well-appointed Riga apartment than a hotel.
Enter Berga Bazārs from Elizabetes Street — the courtyard entrance is easy to miss
Why It Matters
A member of Small Luxury Hotels of the World, Hotel Bergs is one of the most design-forward stays in the Baltics. The building itself is a UNESCO World Heritage site component. Suites house 120 original works by celebrated Latvian artist Ilmārs Blumbergs, and guest rooms contain a CD of serenity music by Latvian percussionist Nils Ile — not your average minibar lineup.
Hotel Bergs Suites sits inside Berga Bazārs, a 19th-century pedestrian arcade that's a kind of city-within-a-city in central Riga. The family-run property is spread across two eclectic Art Nouveau buildings connected by short corridors, and it's steeped in the Bergs family story going back three generations. Every suite is large — think minimalist cream-and-charcoal interiors with dark oak floors, Latvian fine art on the walls, and Grown Alchemist toiletries in heated-floor bathrooms. No pool, no big spa, but the location means excellent cafes and wine bars are literally steps from your door.

The hotel is literally inside the Berga Bazārs pedestrian arcade — a UNESCO World Heritage site component with indie boutiques, beauty salons, cafes, and restaurants. Guests don't need to leave the complex to find quality dining and shopping.
The hotel houses 120 original works by celebrated Latvian artist Ilmārs Blumbergs throughout guest rooms and public spaces, alongside paintings by Jānis Rozentāls and Jānis Tilbergs. Staying here doubles as visiting a private gallery.
The hotel's central location makes it ideal for self-guided or arranged walking tours. Old Town is 10 minutes on foot; the Art Nouveau district is about 20 minutes. Hotel staff can provide city guidance.
