Hotel del Casco
Old-world Argentine aristocracy. Grand colonial proportions, period antiques, fresh flowers at every turn, staff in formal black-and-white uniforms. Think elegant country house more than slick city hotel.
Rooms in the main historic house have more original character but can pick up some street or courtyard noise. Garden Suites in the newer wing are quieter.
Why It Matters
One of the few surviving 19th-century mansions converted into a hotel in the Buenos Aires metro area. The building's history — exposed brick, ornate tapestries, roll-top baths, antique chandeliers — is the main attraction. Also houses the separate freestanding Casa del Casco villa.
A neoclassical palazzo built in 1892 and carefully restored in 2003, Hotel del Casco sits on a cobblestone street in the leafy, well-heeled suburb of San Isidro — about 30 minutes north of downtown Buenos Aires. Push open the wrought-iron gates and you walk into a light-drenched central courtyard with original mosaic floors, slender Ionic columns, and a high stained-glass ceiling. It is genuinely unlike any other hotel in the Buenos Aires area. The 20 rooms split between the main historic house and a newer garden wing are individually decorated with antique furniture, crystal chandeliers, and Egyptian cotton sheets — no two rooms are identical.

There is a fine golf course at the nearby San Isidro Jockey Club. Staff can assist with arrangements.
The concierge can arrange temporary membership at the local athletic club for guests to play tennis and other sports.
A small but well-curated reading room with a library of books — a genuinely useful quiet retreat on rainy days or lazy afternoons.
An outdoor pool set in the garden, flanked by the newer garden wing suites. It is small — better suited to cooling off than lap swimming. Solar loungers around it. Fountains add to the atmosphere.
The famous San Isidro Hippodrome is a short distance away. Staff can help arrange tickets for race days.
