Insider Tip

The rear courtyard pool is a second, more private space — the social cantina courtyard under the almond trees up front is where action happens at night.

Why It Matters

Grupo Habita's first Mérida property, inaugurated in late 2025 and named part of the Design Hotels collection (bookable via Marriott Bonvoy). The building's 16th-century bones were preserved as found — stone ruins and all — making it one of the most architecturally honest heritage restorations in the Yucatán. Named Best Hotel Opening by superfuture in January 2026.

Hotel Sevilla is a 16th-century colonial villa in Mérida's historic center, rescued by boutique operator Grupo Habita after sitting near-derelict for years. Architecture firm Zeller & Moye kept the original stone walls, timber beams, frescoes, and weathered arches intact — then placed raw concrete, brutalist bathrooms, and a sculptural spiral staircase right alongside them. The result is a 21-room property that feels genuinely layered rather than restored-to-death, arranged around two courtyards planted with subtropical greenery and anchored by a concrete pool carved out of what used to be horse stables.
