Why It Matters
Selected for the Michelin Guide Hotel Selection 2024. The POOLSIDE lounge — a genuine repurposed indoor swimming pool under skylights — is unlike anything else in Hiroshima. Eleven room types range from a compact solo double (13 sqm) to a 6-bunk group room, making it genuinely versatile. KIRO occupies a converted orthopedic hospital in Hiroshima's Hatchobori district, about a 16-minute walk from Peace Memorial Park. Part of THE SHARE HOTELS brand by ReBITA, it runs on a 'Sharing with Locals' philosophy — local artists contribute the artwork, a Hiroshima book curator stocked the library, and rotating local baristas staff the ground-floor coffee stand. The entire hotel is a considered art installation. Works by sketch artist shunshun and graphic designer Daijiro Ohara, plantwork by Qusamura studio, furniture by Maruni Wood Industry (Hiroshima), and a book collection by Hiroshima bookshop READAN DEAT. Worth a slow walk-through.
KIRO regularly hosts pop-up shops by Setouchi-area artisans, designers, and food makers in the lobby. Past events include craft goods exhibitions and seasonal markets. Check the events page for current programming.
The 3rd-floor shared kitchen is available to guests for self-catering, socializing, or cooking meals together. Ingredients can be sourced from local shops nearby.
