Why It Matters
One of Rio's original boutique hotels, sister property to La Maison. Clifftop position in Joatinga gives it arguably the best sea view of any hotel in the city — ocean, bay, islands, and Christ the Redeemer all at once. Only 7 or 8 rooms means it operates more like a private villa than a hotel.
La Suite is a 7–8 room clifftop guesthouse on a gated street in Joatinga — Rio's most exclusive residential district, often called the Beverly Hills of Rio. Brothers François-Xavier and Jacques Dussol built it as a home-away-from-home: each suite is themed by colour, the art collection is genuinely curated, and the 180° panorama sweeps from Christ the Redeemer to the Cagarras Islands. Small dogs under 6kg are welcome, the helipad doubles as a breakfast spot, and the hosts know every secret the city has.

The showpiece. Black walls, black chandeliers, four-poster California King bed, and 180° panoramic views covering ocean, bay, and the city lights of Rio. Two full bathrooms — one with shower, one with bathtub — make it genuinely practical for two people. The most dramatic suite in the house.
California King
Blue Suite
King-size bed with views over the ocean and city. Private terrace and ensuite shower. Part of the colour-themed collection, with a cool blue palette.
KingGreen Suite
King-size bed, ocean view, private terrace, and an ensuite with a bathtub. A good balance of space and comfort for guests who want the full bath experience.
KingGrey Suite
King-size bed, ocean view, private terrace, and ensuite with bath. The room is divided into two areas, making it the best option for a couple travelling with one child. Babysitting by the hotel maids is available on request.
KingPurple Suite
The most spacious suite and the most talked-about. Deep purple and silver tones layered over antique French furniture and modern art. The bathroom is spectacular — opulent amethyst marble with a two-headed double shower. A California King bed and private ocean-view terrace complete the picture.
California KingRed Suite
The most compact option at 20 sqm. Rich red tones, parquet flooring, vintage furnishings, queen-size bed and ensuite with shower and bathtub. The sweeping sea views are the same as everywhere else in the house. Note: this room is reportedly near the kitchen — a few guests have mentioned early-morning staff noise.
