Why It Matters
France's only major hotel brand to hold B Corp certification, with organic agriculture certification across the restaurant, Ecocert Cosmos Organic for in-room products, Green Key (La Clef Verte), and Fairtrade sourcing. Founded by philosopher-turned-hotelier Cyril Aouizerate with backing from Philippe Starck and the La Réserve Group's Michel Reybier.
MOB — short for Maimonide of Brooklyn — is a certified B Corp hotel that treats organic living as non-negotiable, not a marketing line. The Lyon outpost lands in Confluence, the formerly industrial waterfront district where the Saône and Rhône meet, and it plays the community-hub role hard: a 400m² certified organic Italian restaurant, a rooftop bar, a Patagonia shop, a Biocoop grocery, live music, yoga sessions, and a library all coexist under one contemporary roof. Rooms are intentionally minimal — no TVs, but beds sourced to palace standard — so the energy points outward toward the public spaces and cultural programming that make this feel more like a neighborhood institution than a place to sleep.
