Why It Matters
One of the very few luxury boutique hotels inside Guanajuato's UNESCO-listed historic center. Michelin Guide and Tablet Hotels selection. The name directly references sterling silver (92.5% purity) — the metal that built this city. A private wine cellar sits in the building's original cistern beneath the courtyard, bookable for intimate dinners.
Nueve 25 takes its name from sterling silver's 92.5% purity standard — a deliberate tribute to the mineral that made Guanajuato fabulously wealthy. The hotel occupies a 19th-century building that once served as a bank, and the bones show: stone walls, high beamed ceilings, a courtyard-style lobby with pale checkered tile floors, wrought iron railings, and greenery cascading over the first-floor balconies. Just 15 rooms keep it genuinely intimate. The real crowd-pleaser is the Sterling Rooftop Bar — cocktails and tapas with unobstructed views of the Basílica and the University bell towers. There's no pool, and the city-center location means some street noise, but this is one of only a handful of true luxury options inside Guanajuato's UNESCO World Heritage historic center.
