One Fukuoka Hotel
Modern Japanese lifestyle hotel with a strong art program, resort-like calm in the middle of the city, and a genuine obsession with views.

Why It Matters
Directly connected to Tenjin subway station (and by extension Fukuoka Airport in 11 minutes), operated by Plan·Do·See — the team behind With The Style and The Luigans — and stacked with around 80 original artworks commissioned specifically for the space. No other hotel in central Fukuoka puts you this high up with this much space per room.
Opened in April 2025, One Fukuoka Hotel sits on floors 18 and 19 of the brand-new ONE FUKUOKA BLDG., a sleek 19-story tower that replaced the beloved Fukuoka Building at Tenjin's main intersection. It has just 41 rooms, all starting at 35 sqm, and every single one is designed around one idea: height. Hakata Bay to the west, the Tenjin rooftops below, and floor-to-ceiling windows in every direction. The interior leans into modern Japanese aesthetics — latticed screens, warm wood floors, a large atrium staircase hung with paintings by artist Noritaka Tatehana — and the whole place feels more like a considered art space than a standard city hotel.

How you'll actually spend your days.
Seasonal afternoon tea (currently Strawberry Velvet) served in the rooftop bar space with Hakata Bay views. ¥6,000 per person including a full tea stand set. Reservation required.
Around 80 original artworks by Tokyo-based artist Noritaka Tatehana are integrated throughout the hotel, including a large-scale 'Descending Painting' in the atrium staircase space. Tatehana's work draws on traditional Japanese craft and Buddhist iconography — his Heel-less Shoes are in the permanent collection of the Met and the V&A. The art is part of the stay, not a ticketed experience.

Guest-only reading lounge on 18F curated by Fukuoka editor Mitsuharu Yamamura, stocked mainly with books on Fukuoka, Kyushu, and Asia. Self-service coffee, tea, ice cream, and light snacks are complimentary. Open 6:00–22:00.
