QT Canberra
Political kitsch meets upscale boutique. Bold, irreverent design celebrating Australia's capital city identity. Theatrical without being exhausting.

Why It Matters
One of the few hotels in Canberra with genuine personality. Capitol Bar & Grill has repeatedly won ACT's top dining awards, and Lucky's Speakeasy took out Best Bar Presentation and Service nationally. The QT brand's 'politique' concept — political art and imagery throughout — is genuinely original, not just a concept board idea someone once had.
QT Canberra is a 205-room boutique hotel sitting on London Circuit in the New Acton cultural precinct — and the building's anonymous glass tower exterior tells you absolutely nothing about what's going on inside. The entire hotel leans into the capital's political identity with full commitment: Gough Whitlam greets you on the room key, Julia Gillard and Fidel Castro flank the hallway to the bar, and Barack Obama shows up in the mirror. It's theatrical, but it works. Rooms are genuinely well-fitted with balconies, QT Dream beds, and proper ergonomic workspaces. No pool on-site, and the gym is a complimentary offsite arrangement at Fitness First — worth knowing before you book.

How you'll actually spend your days.
Free bicycle hire for hotel guests. Useful for exploring Lake Burley Griffin (1.3km away) and the broader New Acton precinct on two wheels.
Hotel guests receive complimentary access to Fitness First at 148 Bunda Street, Canberra City (a short walk from the hotel). The hotel has no on-site gym — speak to staff for access arrangements.
The hotel hosts rotating art exhibitions in its lobby space — a program called 'Your Art. Our Halls'. Local and national artists exhibit works, often with opening night events including drinks and canapés open to guests and the public.
QT Canberra's High Tea offering served at Capitol Bar & Grill. A full-service high tea with a suitably theatrical QT presentation. Bookings recommended.
