Why It Matters
A converted 1930s cinema with personality baked into every corner — including lifts that crack jokes. Pascale Bar & Grill holds a Good Food Guide hat. Yamagen, the newest addition, runs Melbourne's largest rare Japanese whisky collection (120+). Tanto is an actual working knife-sharpening shop inside the hotel. The rooftop bar is one of the city's most-coveted after-work perches.
QT Melbourne takes over a 1930s cinema on Russell Street and makes absolutely no attempt to hide it. The lobby is a riot of neon sculptures, video screens, a wall of 6,000 books, and staff who dress like they wandered off a fashion shoot. All 188 rooms are, somewhat unexpectedly, serene — concrete, slate, timber, leather — and quieter than a city-centre hotel has any right to be. Corner rooms put a freestanding bathtub right against floor-to-ceiling windows, which is as good as it sounds. The lifts deliver sassy one-liners as you ride up, which pretty much tells you everything you need to know about this place.

An in-house gym available around the clock. Fitness classes are available for guests. Reviewed as small by some guests — larger workout options are available nearby in the CBD.
Four stylish private dining rooms at Pascale Bar & Grill for groups of 10–45 people. Available for exclusive hire for celebrations, corporate events, or long-table dinners.
A curated omakase journey through Yamagen's kitchen — from soft-shell crab rolls and sashimi salmon tacos to truffle wagyu tartare. Two omakase options available. Best paired with selections from the 120+ rare Japanese whisky collection.
Drop in at Tanto — the Japanese specialist knife and sharpening house inside QT Melbourne — to have knives professionally sharpened or to learn the craft. The shop draws on 10th-generation Japanese sword-making lineage and is frequented by Melbourne's top chefs.
QT Melbourne regularly hosts temporary art exhibitions and activations within the hotel's public spaces, adding to the ever-changing gallery-like atmosphere of the lobby and common areas.
