The Ritz-Carlton Fukuoka
Modern Japanese luxury with deep local craft references. Think minimalist interiors layered with textile art, natural wood, and Mont Carmelo granite — refined but not stuffy. The rooftop Bay bar brings a DJ-and-cocktails energy that contrasts nicely with the calm spa one floor up.
Book a bay-view room: the Hakata Bay sunset views from upper floors are reportedly spectacular
Why It Matters
Fukuoka punches well above its weight as a food city, and this hotel leans into that identity with six dining and drinking venues. The spa took Japan's Best Hotel Spa 2024 at the World Spa Awards. The hotel also holds a Michelin Key and a Travel + Leisure Luxury Awards Asia Pacific 2025 win — all within just two years of opening.
Opened in June 2023, The Ritz-Carlton Fukuoka occupies floors 19–24 of the Fukuoka Daimyo Garden City tower, a sleek 24-story mixed-use building in the city center. Every one of the 167 rooms starts at 50 square meters and faces bay, skyline, or park views. The design leans hard into local craft — woven bamboo, Hakata-ori silks, Arita porcelain, lacquerware — but the architecture is fully contemporary glass-and-steel. This is Marriott International's first luxury property on Kyushu island.

A guided gardening experience in Ohori Park, approximately 15 minutes on foot from the hotel. Guests gain insight into local ecology and sustainable gardening. Part of the hotel's community engagement program.
Hire a bike from the hotel and explore Fukuoka's neighborhoods, parks, and waterfront at your own pace. The hotel cites this as the most eco-friendly way to explore the area.
Children create original charms by pasting Hakata-ori kimono fabric scraps onto wooden forms and drawing faces on them. A upcycling craft activity.
