TIAD
Biophilic Japanese minimalism. Stone and rough-hewn rock at the entrance, warm wood tones throughout the rooms, and floor-to-ceiling windows that keep the park in frame at all times. Soothing rather than showy — think quiet luxury rather than grand statement.
The lobby, check-in, and restaurants are all on the 5th floor — ground floor is just the entrance and boutique shop. First-timers can be disoriented.
Why It Matters
Nagoya's first proper five-star luxury hotel. Awarded Michelin's One Key Hotel Distinction for two consecutive years (2024 and 2025). Won the 2024 Good Design Award for its green terrace integrated with the adjacent park — a rare recognition for a hotel interior. Also has Nagoya's first indoor infinity pool, and introduces butler service to the city for the first time.
TIAD opened in July 2023 and has quickly become the best hotel in Nagoya — the name stands for Tomorrow Is Another Day, which suits a place this forward-thinking. It's a 150-room, purpose-built 14-story property in the Sakae district, directly facing Hisaya Odori Park. Every single room is at least 50 sqm, which is practically unheard of in Japanese hotels. The design concept — called Biophilia Nest — weaves natural materials (stone, wood, greenery) through the interiors so that the park outside feels continuous with the spaces inside.
