Ankara in May
Great time to visit
May is simply beautiful in Ankara - warm days, cool nights, and fewer tourists than summer. Widely considered one of the two best months to visit.
Weather
May delivers on April's promises with warm, mostly sunny days. Temperatures hover in the comfortable low twenties, perfect for walking tours. Rain becomes less frequent, and the dry heat that defines Ankara summers hasn't kicked in yet.

All Months
Spring hits Ankara hard and fast. April and May bring wildflowers to the surrounding hills and perfect 20°C days for exploring the citadel. Locals emerge from winter hibernation, filling the tea gardens and outdoor restaurants. Fall is equally sweet - September and October offer warm days and cool nights, plus you'll catch the city at its most energetic as parliament returns from summer recess. Summer gets brutal. July temperatures soar past 35°C and the high altitude sun has no mercy. But here's the upside - hotel prices drop and you'll have major sites to yourself. Winter brings snow and a cozy atmosphere, though many outdoor attractions close. The covered bazaars and museums become your best friends.
