Antalya in January

Not the best time

January is Antalya's quietest month with cool, rainy weather that keeps most tourists away. You'll have the ancient sites mostly to yourself, but don't expect beach weather or the full restaurant scene.

Weather

January brings Antalya's coolest temperatures with frequent rain showers rolling in from the Mediterranean. Humidity stays high around 70%, and you'll get about 6-7 hours of daylight. The sea temperature drops to around 17°C — too cold for most people to swim comfortably.

January Tips

  • Pack layers and a waterproof jacket — the weather changes quickly
  • Many beachfront restaurants close, but Old Town spots stay open
  • Hotel rates drop 60-70% from summer peaks

All Months

May through June offers the sweet spot — warm enough for swimming but not hot enough to melt your phone. Temperatures hover around 25-28°C, and the tourist crowds haven't hit full force yet. Hotel prices stay reasonable, and you can actually get a table at good restaurants. September and October deliver perfect weather for exploring ruins without sweating through your shirt. The sea stays warm from summer, but the crushing heat breaks. This is peak season for anyone over 30 who's learned to avoid July in the Mediterranean. Winter isn't dead here — temperatures rarely drop below 15°C, and many hotels stay open year-round with reduced rates. You can't swim, but you can explore Perge and Aspendos without competing with tour buses. Just pack a light jacket for evenings. Avoid July and August unless you enjoy feeling like a rotisserie chicken. Temperatures hit 35°C+ and everyone else had the same vacation idea.
