Arches National Park in January
Good time to visit
January is a reasonable time to visit Arches National Park.
All Months
Timing is everything at Arches. March through May and September through November are your sweet spots — comfortable temperatures, fewer crowds, and perfect light for photography. Spring brings wildflowers if there's been decent winter moisture. Fall offers crisp mornings and warm afternoons without the summer crowds. But here's the reality: summer is brutal. Temperatures regularly hit 100+ degrees, and that red rock amplifies the heat. If you must visit in summer, start hiking before sunrise and be done by 10 AM. Winter can be surprisingly pleasant during the day, but nights drop below freezing and snow occasionally dusts the arches. The park is beautiful in winter, just dress appropriately. For photographers, the golden hour light is incredible year-round, but spring and fall offer the most comfortable conditions for extended shoots.
