Fall (September through November) brings the crowds — and for good reason. The Blue Ridge Mountains explode in reds, oranges, and yellows that look almost fake. Peak foliage usually hits mid-to-late October, but that's also when hotel prices spike and traffic crawls along the Blue Ridge Parkway. Spring (April through June) might be the sweet spot.
