Summer (December-February) means hiking, kayaking, and 20-hour daylight. But here's the catch: January crowds can overwhelm the lakefront, and hotel prices double. If you can swing it, visit in March. Weather stays warm, crowds thin out, and autumn colors paint the mountains.
Shoulder seasons offer the best deals. May brings golden aspens and empty trails. September delivers spring wildflowers and 50% cheaper hotels. Just pack layers – mountain weather changes fast.
