Bazaruto Archipelago in July
Not the best time
July brings perfect weather but terrible crowds as South African families escape their winter. The climate is flawless but expect higher prices and packed lodges.
Weather
July hits peak dry season with the coolest temperatures of the year. Days warm up nicely but nights can actually get chilly by tropical standards. The trade winds blow constantly, sometimes making it feel cooler than thermometer readings suggest.

All Months
April, May, September, and October offer the sweet spot — warm but not scorching, minimal rain, and calmer seas. Water temperatures hover around 26°C year-round, perfect for diving and snorkeling. April and May follow the rainy season, so everything looks lush and green, plus accommodation rates drop significantly. September and October bring the best visibility for diving — often exceeding 30 meters — and whale shark encounters peak. November through March is cyclone season with high humidity, afternoon thunderstorms, and rougher seas that can cancel boat trips. But it's also when the archipelago looks most tropical, and room rates hit rock bottom. June through August sees cooler temperatures (low 20s) and stronger winds that make dhow sailing exciting but swimming less appealing. The trade winds during these months create perfect conditions for kitesurfing and windsurfing.
