Budapest in July
Great time to visit
July brings peak season chaos with sweltering heat and massive crowds, especially during Sziget Festival week. The city pulses with energy, but you'll pay premium prices and fight for space everywhere.
Weather
July delivers the year's hottest weather with temperatures regularly climbing above 30°C on sunny afternoons. Occasional thunderstorms provide dramatic relief, but humidity can climb uncomfortably high. The Danube becomes a welcome sight for cooling breezes.

All Months
May through September gives you the best of Budapest. The thermal baths feel perfect when it's warm outside, and outdoor dining takes over the city's squares and courtyards.
Summer (June-August) brings long days and outdoor festivals. The Budapest Summer Festival runs from June to August with concerts in St. Stephen's Basilica and the Hungarian State Opera. But hotel prices peak and the city gets crowded.
Spring (April-May) might be ideal. Cherry blossoms bloom in City Park, outdoor cafes reopen, and you can soak in Széchenyi Baths without the summer crowds. Temperatures hit 20°C most days.
Fall (September-October) extends the good weather into autumn. The leaves change in Buda Hills, wine harvest season brings festivals, and hotel rates drop after summer. October averages 15°C with plenty of sunny days.
Winter has its own charm. Christmas markets fill Vörösmarty Square from late November through January. The thermal baths steam in the cold air, creating an almost mystical atmosphere. Just pack warm clothes — January averages 2°C.
Avoid March if you can. Weather is unpredictable, many outdoor attractions stay closed, and it's not quite spring yet.
