Cambodia in August
Not the best time
August isn't ideal for Cambodia. Consider a different month.
All Months
November through March brings dry season bliss - clear skies, comfortable temperatures, and perfect temple-exploring weather. December and January see the most crowds at Angkor Wat, but also the best conditions.
April and May turn brutally hot - we're talking 100°F+ with humidity that'll melt your camera. But hotel prices drop 40% and you'll have temples nearly to yourself.
Rainy season (June-October) isn't as bad as it sounds. Showers usually hit in late afternoon, leaving mornings clear for sightseeing. The countryside turns emerald green, waterfalls flow full, and accommodation costs plummet.
For festivals, Khmer New Year in April brings three days of celebration (and closed attractions). Water Festival in November fills Phnom Penh with boat races and parties.
Avoid Cambodian holidays if you need things to run on schedule - but join in if you want authentic cultural experiences.
