October brings crisp mornings and fewer crowds — locals reclaim their favorite bacari spots. Winter fog transforms Cannaregio into something from a Gothic novel, but half the restaurants close from November through February. Early morning visits work best year-round. Campo Santa Fosca comes alive around 7am when locals grab cornetti and espresso before work. By 10am, day-trippers start arriving from the cruise ships.
