Capital Region in November

Great time to visit

November is one of the best months to visit Capital Region.

All Months

March through May brings cherry blossoms and crowds that make Times Square look peaceful. The trees bloom for maybe two weeks if you're lucky, but the festival stretches for a month. Come anyway - the weather's perfect and the city feels alive. Fall hits differently here. October and November serve up crisp air and leaves that actually change colors, unlike some southern cities that go straight from green to brown. Summer in DC means humidity that makes you question your life choices, but the outdoor concerts at Wolf Trap and Kennedy Center Millennium Stage make it bearable. Winter keeps the crowds away and museums become your best friends. The National Gallery's East Building stays warm, and you can actually see the Hope Diamond without elbowing through tour groups. Holiday decorations around the monuments look genuinely magical, not just Instagram-ready.
