Grape harvest season means fresh wine and festival atmosphere in the villages. Summer (June-August) is beautiful but brutal. Expect wall-to-wall tourists, especially in July. Temperatures hit 30°C (86°F) with humidity that makes hiking miserable. If you must come now, start early — be on the trails by 8 AM. Winter isn't dead season like people think. Many restaurants stay open, trains run regularly, and you'll have the coastal paths mostly to yourself. But weather is unpredictable — storms can shut down boat service and flood the train tracks.
