All Months

December through April delivers El Nido at its absolute best. Skies stay clear, seas remain calm, and humidity drops to tolerable levels. This is peak season though — expect crowds and premium prices for everything from hotels to boat tours. May marks the start of the wet season, but rain often comes in short afternoon bursts rather than all-day downpours. You'll find better deals and fewer tourists, plus the landscape stays lush and green. Water visibility for diving actually improves during this period. June through November brings the southwest monsoon with heavy rains and rough seas. Many island-hopping tours get cancelled, and some resorts close entirely. But if you can handle the weather uncertainty, this is when you'll have beaches nearly to yourself. The absolute sweet spot hits late November and early December. Weather transitions back to dry season, but tourist crowds haven't arrived yet. Hotel rates stay reasonable and boat tours run reliably. Avoid Chinese New Year (usually February) and Holy Week (March/April) when domestic tourism peaks. Filipinos vacation in huge numbers during these periods, making everything more crowded and expensive.
