All Months
May through September is Fargo's sweet spot. Temperatures hit the 70s and 80s, perfect for walking downtown or catching outdoor concerts at Island Park.
July brings the Red River Valley Fair, but also peak tourist season and higher hotel rates. June offers the best balance of good weather and reasonable prices.
September might be ideal. Temperatures cool to comfortable levels, fall colors start showing along the Red River, and college students return, energizing the nightlife scene.
Winter is brutal, no sugarcoating it. January averages -3°F and the wind never stops. But if you can handle the cold, hotel rates drop by half and you'll have restaurants to yourself. The Fargo Theatre looks magical covered in snow.
Avoid late March and early April. That's mud season when everything looks brown and depressing.
