Fuerteventura in February

Not the best time

February is for wind sport enthusiasts and Carnival lovers. The weather is mild but breezy, making it less ideal for traditional beach holidays.

Weather

February remains the island's coldest month with similar temperatures to January. The northeast trade winds are at their strongest, creating choppy seas and making the 21°C highs feel cooler. Rain is rare but possible.

February Tips

  • Book accommodations early for Carnival week
  • The Flag Beach at Corralejo can be particularly windy - head to the southern beaches for calmer conditions

All Months

Here's the thing about Fuerteventura - it's basically always warm. Even in January, temperatures hit 20°C during the day, and the water stays around 18°C year-round thanks to the Gulf Stream. But some months are definitely better than others. April through June is perfect. The crowds haven't arrived yet, hotel prices are reasonable, and the wind conditions are ideal for water sports. May might be the sweet spot - warm enough for beach days but not so hot that you're hiding indoors during midday. September through November works well too. The summer crowds have gone home, but the water is still warm from months of sun. October can be particularly good for surfing, as the first Atlantic swells start arriving. Avoid July and August if you can. It's not just the crowds - though they are intense - it's the heat. Temperatures push 30°C regularly, and the trade winds that usually keep things comfortable can die down completely. Plus, everything costs more and books up faster.
