Isabela in April
Not the best time
Weather starts improving from March's intensity, and you'll have beaches mostly to yourself. The warm ocean makes for excellent swimming, though afternoon storms still interrupt plans regularly.
Weather
April marks the transition toward cooler weather, but it's still quite warm with highs in the upper 80s and humidity around 85%. Rainfall begins to decrease but afternoon showers remain common. Ocean temperatures peak around 81°F this month.

All Months
June through January offers Isabela's sweet spot. The garúa season from June to November brings cooler temperatures and calmer seas - perfect for snorkeling and diving. You'll see more marine life during these months, especially around Los Túneles.
December and January heat up but stay relatively dry. This timing works well for hiking Sierra Negra volcano, when clear skies offer the best crater views. Sea turtle nesting peaks from December through May, so you might spot females laying eggs on Playa Grande.
Avoid February through May if possible. These months bring the heaviest rains and roughest seas. Many tour operators reduce schedules, and some hiking trails close entirely. Hotel prices drop, but you'll spend more time indoors than exploring.
Here's what most guides won't tell you - wildlife viewing stays excellent year-round. Giant tortoises don't hibernate, marine iguanas bask on rocks regardless of season, and penguins fish these waters throughout the year. The main variables are weather comfort and sea conditions for boat trips.
