Isle of Man in October
Good time to visit
Autumn proper arrives with moody weather that's actually quite atmospheric. Good for budget travel, but outdoor activities become weather-dependent again.
Weather
October shows autumn's true colors as temperatures drop to 13°C and rain increases to 14 days. The wind picks up again, reminding you that winter's coming. But there's something magical about the island wrapped in autumn mists.

October Tips
- •Bring proper rain gear as showers become more persistent
- •Many seasonal attractions start closing or reducing hours
- •Great month for pub culture as locals settle in for winter
All Months
May through September offers the warmest weather and longest days, but also the crowds and highest prices. The Isle of Man TT races in late May and early June transform the island into a motorcycle mecca, with accommodation booked solid and prices tripling.
July and August bring the most reliable sunshine and warmest sea temperatures, making them ideal for families and beach activities. But this is also when the island feels most touristy, and popular attractions can get busy.
September might be the sweet spot. The weather stays mild, summer crowds disappear, and accommodation prices drop significantly. You'll still get decent daylight hours for hiking and sightseeing, plus the changing seasons add drama to the island's landscapes.
Winter visits require proper preparation but reward you with dramatic storms, empty landscapes, and a chance to experience authentic island life. Many attractions close between November and March, but pubs stay open, and locals are more likely to chat with visitors.
Avoid the Manx Grand Prix in late August if you're not into motorcycle racing. Like the TT, it brings crowds, noise, and inflated prices, but without the same international prestige or atmosphere.
