Jinja in May

Not the best time

Still rainy season but showing signs of letting up. Cheap prices can't quite compensate for the constant threat of downpours disrupting outdoor plans.

Weather

May continues the rainy season though slightly less intense than April. Expect 28°C highs with muggy 19°C lows. Rain falls almost every other day, usually in dramatic afternoon sessions.

All Months

June through August is peak adventure season. The Nile runs high from the rains, making the rapids more intense. But everyone knows this, so book rafting trips weeks ahead. December through February offers the best weather — dry, warm, perfect for outdoor activities. The water's lower but still raftable, and you'll have the place mostly to yourself. Avoid March through May unless you love mud. The roads turn to soup, half the activities shut down, and you'll spend more time waiting out storms than actually doing anything. September through November can be hit or miss — some years are perfect, others are soggy.
