Lazio in August
Not the best time
August isn't ideal for Lazio. Consider a different month.
All Months
April through June gives you perfect weather without summer's crushing heat. Rome's fountains and piazzas feel magical when temperatures hover around 22°C. Easter crowds pack the city, but late April offers a sweet spot of warm days and cool evenings.
September and October bring harvest season to the Castelli Romani. Grape festivals fill weekends, and restaurants serve new wine with chestnuts and wild mushrooms. Rome's summer crowds thin out, but weather stays warm enough for evening strolls.
Summer means 35°C+ temperatures and tourist hordes. Romans escape to the coast or lakes during August - many restaurants close entirely. If you must visit in summer, start early, rest during afternoon heat, and save sightseeing for evenings.
Winter brings rain and shorter days, but also lower prices and empty attractions. Christmas markets fill Rome's piazzas, and thermal baths around Viterbo feel especially appealing. Just pack layers - Roman buildings often lack proper heating.
