All Months
November through March offers the best weather in Mandalay. Temperatures hover around 75-85°F during the day with cool evenings perfect for walking around temples. This is peak tourist season, but crowds are still manageable compared to Thailand or Vietnam.
December and January are ideal months. The weather is dry and comfortable, and you'll catch the full moon festivals at various pagodas. Book accommodation in advance during this period, especially around Christmas and New Year.
April and May bring intense heat – we're talking 100°F+ daily with high humidity. Only visit during hot season if you have a high heat tolerance and plan to stay indoors during midday hours. The upside? Fewer tourists and lower prices.
Avoid the monsoon season from June through October. Heavy rains flood streets regularly, and many day trip destinations become inaccessible. Some guesthouses close entirely during peak monsoon months of July and August.
