Great time to visit
Prime gorilla trekking weather with clear skies and dry trails. Crowds are thick and prices reflect it, but the mountain views are spectacular.

January Tips
- •Pack layers for the temperature swings between morning and afternoon
- •Book gorilla permits at least 2 months ahead - this is peak season
- •Bring sunscreen - UV is intense at this altitude
All Months
June through September brings the best weather — clear skies, minimal rain, and easier gorilla trekking conditions. Mornings start around 10°C but warm to 20°C by afternoon. This is peak season though, so gorilla permits sell out months ahead and accommodation prices spike.
December through February offers another dry window with fewer crowds. Perfect hiking weather and better photography light. Local farmers harvest crops during this period, so markets overflow with fresh produce.
Avoid March through May when heavy rains turn hiking trails into mud slides. The park sometimes closes certain trails, and you'll spend more time looking at fog than gorillas. October and November bring lighter rains but still decent trekking conditions.
