Mykonos in January
Not the best time
January is for hardcore Greece lovers only. Most of the island shuts down, leaving you with empty beaches and howling winds. But if you can handle the weather, you'll have one of the most famous party islands almost entirely to yourself.
Weather
January brings Mykonos its coldest and windiest weather. Temperatures hover around 10-15°C with strong northern winds that can make it feel even chillier. Rain comes in bursts - you'll get several wet days mixed with crisp, clear afternoons.

January Tips
- •Most hotels, restaurants and beach clubs close for winter - book accommodation early as options are very limited
- •Pack serious windproof layers - the meltemi winds are brutal in winter
- •Use this time for long walks through Chora without the summer crowds
All Months
May through October marks Mykonos season, but timing makes all the difference.
May and early June offer the sweet spot: warm weather, fewer crowds, and hotels that haven't reached peak pricing. The sea might still be chilly for swimming, but beach clubs start opening and the party scene kicks into gear.
July and August bring peak chaos. Temperatures soar into the mid-30s, beaches pack with bodies, and hotel prices reach astronomical levels. But this is also when Mykonos truly comes alive – every club operates at full capacity, and the energy becomes infectious.
September delivers the best weather with slightly smaller crowds. The sea reaches its warmest temperature, and that harsh summer light softens into something magical. October extends the season for those seeking deals, though many beach clubs start closing.
Winter turns Mykonos into a ghost town. Most hotels, restaurants, and attractions shut down from November through March. The few places that stay open cater to locals, offering a completely different experience of the island.
