Nairobi in April
Not the best time
The wettest month of the year makes getting around a real challenge. Prices drop significantly but for good reason - this isn't tourist season.
Weather
April brings Nairobi's heaviest rains with daily thunderstorms and high humidity. Roads flood regularly and the red clay soil turns into a muddy mess across the city.

All Months
January and February deliver Nairobi at its finest. Dry weather, clear skies, and perfect temperatures around 25°C. This coincides with calving season in the Maasai Mara, making it prime safari time too.
June through October marks the other dry season. Cooler temperatures (18-22°C) make walking around comfortable, and it's peak season for the Great Migration. But expect higher prices and crowded attractions.
December works well despite being rainy season. The short rains usually come as afternoon showers, leaving mornings clear for sightseeing. Plus, you'll find better hotel deals.
Avoid March through May unless you love mud. The long rains turn roads into rivers, and many safari camps close. Some lodges offer 50% discounts, but you might spend your vacation indoors.
November sits on the fence — it can be brilliant or soggy depending on when the short rains start. Check the forecast before booking.
