All Months
November through April delivers Nayarit at its absolute best. Temperatures hover around 80°F during the day, dropping to comfortable sleeping weather at night. Rain becomes a distant memory, and humidity levels make beach lounging actually enjoyable instead of sweaty torture.
December and January bring the crowds, especially around Christmas and New Year's. Hotel prices double, restaurants require reservations, and Sayulita's main beach gets packed by 10 AM. But the weather stays perfect, and the festive atmosphere has its own appeal. Book accommodations months in advance for this period.
February through April offers the sweet spot – excellent weather with fewer tourists once the holidays end. March brings spring breakers, but they tend to stick to Puerto Vallarta. This is prime time for surfing, with consistent swells and offshore winds.
May starts the transition to rainy season. Mornings stay beautiful, but afternoon thunderstorms roll in regularly. Humidity climbs, making midday activities uncomfortable. But hotel rates drop significantly, and you'll have beaches mostly to yourself.
June through October means rain, heat, and humidity. Daily downpours can last hours, flooding streets and canceling boat trips. Temperatures climb into the 90s with oppressive humidity. Hurricane season runs officially June through November, though direct hits are rare. Many restaurants and hotels close during September and October.
Surf season peaks during summer months despite the weather challenges. Consistent swells from southern storms create excellent waves, attracting serious surfers willing to deal with rain and heat.
