Nusa Penida in August
Great time to visit
August cranks up both the heat and the crowds to maximum levels. The diving is exceptional and weather flawless, but you'll pay peak prices and fight for space everywhere.
Weather
August maintains the dry season excellence with blazing sunshine and zero rain. Heat reaches its annual peak, especially inland areas away from ocean breezes. Evenings bring welcome relief with cooling trade winds.

Events & Festivals
- •Indonesian Independence Day (August 17)
- •European summer holidays continue
- •Peak manta ray season at Manta Point
August Tips
- •Book manta ray trips early morning for best visibility and fewer boats
- •Carry extra water - dehydration hits fast in this heat
- •Popular warungs run out of food by 2pm during peak season
All Months
April through October delivers the best weather – sunny skies, calm seas, and minimal rain. July and August bring the crowds and higher prices, but also the best manta ray sightings at Manta Point. May and September offer the sweet spot of good weather with fewer tourists. The wet season (November-March) turns those dirt roads into muddy nightmares, and rough seas can cancel boat trips entirely. But if you do brave the rainy season, you'll have places like Kelingking Beach almost to yourself. For the best underwater visibility, visit during the dry season when sediment settles. Water temperatures stay warm year-round at 26-28°C, perfect for diving and snorkeling.
