All Months
Spring brings cherry blossoms and crowds in equal measure. Osaka Castle Park turns pink in early April, but you'll be shoulder-to-shoulder with tour groups. The weather is perfect though — mild days, cool nights, and that crisp air that makes you want to walk everywhere. Book hotels months in advance and expect prices to double during peak bloom. Fall is the sweet spot. September through November delivers comfortable temperatures, fewer tourists, and the best street food weather. You can actually enjoy hot takoyaki without sweating through your shirt. The autumn leaves in Sumiyoshi Park rival Kyoto's famous spots, minus the Instagram influencers. Winter gets cold but not brutal. January temperatures hover around 5°C, perfect for warming up with hot ramen between sightseeing. Hotel prices drop significantly, and you'll have popular restaurants to yourself. Summer is rough. July and August bring oppressive humidity that makes walking feel like swimming through soup. But the beer gardens open on rooftops across the city, and there's something magical about drinking Asahi Super Dry while the city lights twinkle below. Just pack extra shirts and embrace the sweat.
