All Months

May through September gives you the best weather, but each month brings different rewards. May means wildflowers covering the surrounding hills and perfect temperatures for hiking Sulaiman-Too. June and July can hit 35°C but the long days stretch until 9 PM. August brings melon season to the bazaars. Vendors stack watermelons and cantaloupes in pyramids that would make pharaohs jealous. September offers the sweet spot — still warm but not scorching, with harvest festivals in nearby villages. Winter isn't impossible but it's not fun either. Temperatures drop to -10°C and many guesthouses close or cut their heating. The mountains look dramatic covered in snow, but you'll spend most of your time indoors drinking tea and wondering why you didn't come in summer. Ramadan affects the city's rhythm when it falls during these months. Many restaurants close during daylight hours, but the evening iftar meals become community celebrations worth experiencing.
