Piran in March
Good time to visit
March is transition month where winter loosens its grip but spring hasn't fully arrived. You'll get decent weather windows between rainy spells and the town starts waking up from its winter slumber.
Weather
March brings the first hints of spring with warmer afternoons, though mornings stay cool. Rain decreases but still expect 8-9 wet days. The bura wind can still whip through the peninsula with surprising force.

March Tips
- •Pack both winter and spring clothes - weather is unpredictable
- •Restaurants start extending hours as tourist season approaches
- •Good month for photography with dramatic skies and fewer people
All Months
May through September gives you the best weather and everything open. July and August bring crowds and €200+ hotel rates, but the sea is warmest then. June and September hit the sweet spot — warm enough for swimming, fewer tourists, and restaurants still operating full menus. The Tartini Festival in late August fills the square with classical music concerts. Winter is quiet but charming in its own way — many restaurants close, but you'll have the medieval streets mostly to yourself. Just bring a jacket; the Bora wind off the Adriatic can be fierce. Spring arrives early here, with pleasant weather starting in April, though some seasonal businesses might still be closed.
