All Months
May through June delivers Prague's sweet spot. Temperatures hit 20°C (68°F), the crowds haven't peaked, and outdoor beer gardens reopen. The city blooms — literally. Petřín Hill's cherry trees create pink clouds above the city, and Wenceslas Square's linden trees leaf out.
September and October bring fewer tourists and perfect walking weather. Fall colors transform Petřín Park and the castle gardens. You'll still catch outdoor concerts in Wenceslas Square, but hotel prices drop from summer peaks. October averages 15°C (59°F) — ideal for wandering cobblestone streets.
Winter Prague looks like a Christmas market came to life, but temperatures drop to -2°C (28°F). The Christmas markets in Old Town Square run December through January, selling mulled wine and roasted nuts. Snow covers the castle spires, creating postcard scenes. But daylight lasts only 8 hours, and many outdoor attractions close.
Avoid July and August unless you enjoy crowds. Charles Bridge becomes shoulder-to-shoulder tourists by 9 AM, and restaurant prices spike. Easter week also draws massive crowds for the Easter markets, though the weather starts warming up.
